Enjoyable and “true” fantasy-fulfilling read

The synopsis claims this novel to demonstrate how Mistress Benay has turned her husband into her slave. It does a little bit of that but the bulk of the novel concentrates in describing some of the most significant sessions she has had with him at the start of their relationship. Though the sessions were fun to read, the in between of them lacked of substance and purpose. It would have been beneficial, had she had filled up these gaps with Mistress‘ motivations, thoughts and background details, so as to develop depthness of characters.
It reads as a work of fiction, meaning it does what I expected it to do ; sexually arouse me and vicariously satisfy some of my darkest and most abject fantasies. It was good in that manner, on the other hand, it was quite far from being a literary masterpiece, for its dryly descriptive and flavorless prose as oppose to being agreeable and insightful.
On a positive note, the plot flows at the right pace. There were no boring moments, the slave‘s predicaments gets progressively worse as time goes by, as one would expect of a typical femdom novel.

Very interesting

At Her Beck and Call was a very interesting book. I will say it wasn't exactly what I was expecting form the synopsis though. The description seems to promise a tale of the journey a Dom takes to mold their sub, the book does this a little bit. However it seems to focus more on what this particular Domme believes to have been significant scenes for her and her sub. Despite this slight let down I really enjoyed the book.
Mistress Benay is very candid about the moments she shared with her sub. This helps to feel like the source is really authentic and it's not a made up story (which of course it isn't). The stories and advice she shares are helpful and interesting. I do wish she shared more in depth thought about why she is drawn to it or what she was feeling during these times. The lacking of this doesn't really detract from the book, however.
I truly enjoyed the read. If nothing else it is a good book to fuel a few fantasies. If you are interested in learning more about BDSM or just toying with the fantasy of it, this book will definitely suit your needs. Give it a try!

At Her Beck and Call (Female Domination Series) by Mistress Benay is a one hundred and forty page journal of a female dominatrix. Her slave husband, Troy, has put all her thoughts and events together for the book. This is not really a fiction story, like Fifty Shades of Grey, but a real life account of how Mistress Benay first became a dominatrix to Troy.
It is mostly her narration and thoughts on different situations as she teaches Troy male servitude, not a lot of dialogue from Troy. In fact we do not know much about Troy, however this is not a story, more of a how to guide for woman. The author even suggests that if you are a man reading the journal to pass it over to your female counterpart. The chronicles begin with her life/day job being a dominatrix but her wanting more of a steady slave/husband and how she accomplished that.
